HCIAS Working Papers publishes peer-reviewed works from different perspectives and research fields of the humanities and social sciences that present the findings of ongoing research on Ibero-America.
Francisco Moreno-Fernández and Héctor Álvarez Mella open the publication series with their contribution "Reexamining the International Importance of Languages". This paper addresses the comparative analysis of the social dimensions of languages around the globe and provides a picture of the plural and polycentric constellation of international languages including Spanish and Portuguese, defined by their areas of influence and spread.
