Celia Hernández Pérez

Celia Hernández Pérez is a doctoral student at the HCIAS and the Faculty of Modern Languages doing her thesis under the joint supervision of the interdisciplinary HCIAS Doctoral Research Group “Communication and Society in Ibero-America” of Heidelberg University and the Social Science Doctoral Program of the University of Salamanca (Spain). She holds a scholarship from the Landesgraduiertenförderungsprogramm (LGF) of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Celia completed a bachelor’s degree in German Studies at the University of Salamanca (Spain). She completed a double master’s degree in Specialised Translation and Culture Mediation with a focus on the German, Spanish, and English languages and cultures at Heidelberg University and the University of Salamanca, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Currently, she is carrying out her research project in the field of communication, studying from a pragmatic point of view. Her focus lies on anaphoric mechanisms and aims to determine how these contribute to discourse coherence, using empirical methods. In this context, she works within the international project “Communication and Cognition” involving researchers from Heidelberg University, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and the University of Navarra (Spain). Her doctoral research project, "Anaphoric Encapsulation in Spanish: an Experimental Study on Cognitive Processing", is supervised by HCIAS Prof. Dr. Óscar Loureda Lamas and Prof. María Ángeles Recia Ariza from the University of Salamanca.

Celia also works closely with the HCIAS and supports the management of international academic events.
