About Us Pilar Valero
HCIAS Research Associate at the OSE
Pilar Valero Fernández holds a PhD in Phraseography Applied to the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Zadar (Croatia) and a degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Castilla-La Mancha. She has further enhanced her academic background with two master’s degrees: one in Applied Linguistics for Foreign Language Teaching from Nebrija University, and another in Secondary Education, High School, and Language Teaching from the same institution.

Research Profile
Pilar specializes in academic writing in Spanish and intercultural communication. She has also served as a university lecturer in Applied Linguistics and Spanish for Specific Purposes at institutions such as the University of Tübingen, Nebrija University, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco de Vitoria University, and the Mid-Atlantic University of the Canary Islands.
As a research associate at the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies (HCIAS) and the Observatory of Spanish in Europe (OSE), her main research interests include lexicography, phraseology, Spanish as a heritage language, and the didactics of Spanish as a foreign language.
