About Us Mathis Teucher
Mathis Teucher is a doctoral student and research associate at the HCIAS. He is part of the international research project "Communication and Cognition" and studies communication and discourse coherence from a pragmatic perspective. His dissertation focuses on the cognitive processing of anaphoric reference mechanisms and is supervised by HCIAS Prof. Dr. Óscar Loureda Lamas.
Mathis works at HCIAS in the further development of the international double degree programs Specialized Translation and Cultural Mediation with the Universidad de Salamanca and Specialized Translation and Translation Technologies with the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago de Chile as well as in the coordination of research projects. Mathis also teaches specialized translation and experimental research at the Institute for Translation and Interpreting. In the past, he supervised the DAAD-funded international teaching and study project “Communication and Society in Ibero-America - CS@Ibero-America_PLUS” as a project assistant. Research stays and guest lectureships have taken him to the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, to the Universidad de Panamá, to the Universidad de Cádiz, and to the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Mathis studied the international double master's program in Specialized Translation and Cultural Mediation at the Institute for Translation and Interpreting at Heidelberg University and the Faculty of Translation and Documentation at the Universidad de Salamanca, during which he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). While studying Translation Studies at Heidelberg University in German, Spanish and English, Mathis spent several academic stays abroad at various universities in Spain and Ireland and worked as a research assistant for the academic coordination of the Institute for Translation and Interpreting. While studying, Mathis worked as a freelance translator and collaborated closely with the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción (ISTRAD) in Seville.
