About Us Blas de la Jara Plaza

Blas de la Jara Plaza is a doctoral researcher at the HCIAS and a scholarshipholder from the Heinrich Böll Foundation. His research project, supervised by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Yaatsil Guevara González, addresses the dynamics of political coalitions and memory endeavors within non-cisgender activisms in Peru.

Blas is a communications professional and scholar from Lima, Peru. He earned a Master’s in the research-oriented program 'Communication Sciences: Digital Media and Society' at KU Leuven, Belgium with a thesis on transplatform narratives. Blas also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) with a thesis on audiovisual media at the museum of the Pachacamac Archaeological Site (Lima).

Blas de la Jara

Blas has experience in applied communications, particularly on topics related to gender, memory, and culture. He worked as a communications professional at the museum of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture LUM Lugar de la Memoria, la Tolerancia y la Inclusión Social, which was built with support from the German government. The institution is dedicated to understanding Peru's internal armed conflict (1980-2000). He also served as a digital content manager for the Peruvian National Theatre (Gran Teatro Nacional) and as the communications coordinator of the Pedro de Osma Museum in Lima, a private institution known for its Colonial, Inca, and Tiahuanaco permanent exhibitions. In addition, Blas has worked as an independent consultant for several initiatives, including the XY? Neue Maskulinitäten project of the Goethe-Institut Peru.
